Father's Day

Today was Father's Day and it was a beautiful day so we decided to head into Newcastle for the day.
We drove to Stockton and then caught the ferry across to Newcastle Foreshore. Zara was really excited to be on a boat and had fun standing out on the deck watching the waves made by the boat.

Evie's first word!

Over the past week, Evie has been saying "dog" whenever she sees dogs or pictures of dogs! Very exciting!

I made these nappies

A friend sent me some beautiful Winne The Pooh and Eeyore fabric so I made some nappies for Evie. Here they are:

New nappy!

This is Evie's new nappy - a puppy dog nappy!

Evie has been practising her walking everywhere. Have been trying to get a photo of her doing it, but it's hard because she wants to walk towards the camera!



Zara has fun trying to help Evie to walk too :)

She is enjoying daycare, she goes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday every week. Zara's pre-school is in the same centre. Zara loves pre-school so much that most mornings I can't even get a 'goodbye' out of her as she is off playing in the sandpit with the other kids before I even put her bag away.

Evie got mail!

Evie received some longies (long pants knitted with wool) in the mail today from a friend.
She even dyed the wool herself - they are beautiul.
Evie will wear them over her fitted nappies - I 'lanolise' the longies with wool fat and this makes them repell moisture so they make a great waterproof cover for going over a nappy, especially for nighttime as the wool is very breathable :)

Big Day

Zara and Evie fell asleep on the lounge together this evening - all worn out from their long walk this afternoon! We walked down the road to the hospital where there is a lonely horse in a paddock all by itself and gave it some bread. Evie was fascinated, and Zara was proud of herself, feeding the horse bread all by herself! Will have to get some photos of her doing so soon, but for now here is one of them asleep on the lounge.

Evie now has 11 teeth!

That's right, Evie has 11 teeth! Just amazing, I don't think Zara had 11 teeth until quite a bit later. Evie's molars are coming through now and causing her a bit of pain I think. Last week at daycare, the carers told me she'd been a bit grumpy most of the day, and when I got her home that afternoon I discovered yet another tooth. Must have been why she was a bit grumpy!

Some pretty colours in the sky as the sun rose across the road from home yesterday.



I will get around to putting up some photos from the flood soon, I just have to sort through them and find the best ones. Also I've been meaning to go down to the riverbank now the river is back to it's usual level and take some photos to compare, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
There is quite a bit of damage to the riverbank - lots of erosion and entire parts of the cycleway and footpath on both sides of the river are damaged and/or missing. Will take some photos of that too.

Evie's first steps

Last night Evie took what were definitely her first steps! Towards her mummy, before falling flat on her face! But she thought it was hilarious and got back up to do it another ten times.

Evie's first birthday!

Evie celebrating her first birthday! She had a great day with lots and lots of presents. Her favourite present was a cabbage patch doll from Zara.
She also loved her birthday cake (Nan's ring cake recipe!)

Not long ago we got a new baby carrier for Evie. She loves it and it's her favourite place to be! She can go on it on my back (which she likes best), or on the front when she is a bit tired, she sleeps in it really well.

Saturday at The Entrance

Today we drove down to The Entrance for the day.
Zara had lots of fun - there were lots of rides set up on the foreshore and she spent most of the afternoon bouncing around on the jumping castle or on the carousel.
Evie enjoyed hanging back and watching all the action and also had her first taste of ice-cream!









Just before we left, there was a pelican feeding session which we stayed to watch.
